I’m very happy to have been chosen to present 4 sessions on WordPress at PodCampEast!
- WordPress From the Ground Up – 2 sessions. One will cover creating content, and the other will show you how to administer your site, use themes and plugins.
- Installing WordPress on your own computer. This will allow you to try using and configuring WordPress without the need to pay a hosting service or have an internet connection. No one will see your website except you.
- For more advanced users – Child Themes and Customizing Your Navigation.
Here are notes from the last two items.
How to install WordPress on a local Macintosh computer using MAMP
How to install WordPress on a local Windows computer (using XAMPP)
Child Themes and Customizing Navigation Using the 2011 Theme
For the first two, I recommend Scott McNulty’s fine book:
Building a WordPress Blog People Want to Read.
Peachpit Press
ISBN-13: 978-0-321-74957-4
ISBN-10: 0-321-74957-X
This is not about how to write well, but rather how to use the many features of
WordPress. It is written in an easy to follow, often funny style, for any level of user,
from beginner up.
